Last Day

16th May was our last day at SK Taman Megah. It was a cold day. We gather and went to the school 7.30 am and reached there around 7.45 am.

When we arrived, the school kids were playing a friendly match of handball with nearby the schools. We were just observing from the side and helped them during the break. That afternoon,  we had a closing ceremony at the school hall. Our school team won the friendly match. After that, we started to distribute lunch to the school kids at the canteen.

The program end with no problems and full satisfaction. I'm very happy to do this project and helping the kids. I'm looking forward to do this again next time.

What is Handball??

Despite the end of the event, it was never too late to learn about this particular sport - handball.

What is handball?

Handball is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins.

Two teams of seven players take the field and attempt to score points by putting the game ball into the opposing team's goal. In handling the ball, players are subject to the following restrictions:

  • After receiving the ball, players can pass, keep possession, or shoot the ball.
  • If possessing the ball, players must dribble, or can take up to three steps for up to three seconds at a time without dribbling.
  • No attacking or defending players other than the defending goalkeeper are allowed to touch the floor of the goal area. Goalkeepers are allowed outside the goal area, but are not allowed to cross the goal area boundary with the ball in their hands.
  • The ball may not be passed back to the goalkeeper when they are positioned in the goal area.

In general, it's almost similar to basketball with the difference of ball size and goal post instead of net.

Done with introductions, now down to why play handball instead of other sports?
-The game is fast, dynamic and the players need to be fit and work for the team.
-The sport has a relatively rapid learning curve because the basic movements build on      natural human movements such as jumping, running, throwing and the variations of these. These unique elements distinguish handball from all other physical exercises. Handball  players need to be fit and skilled.
-The intensity of the game, the constant physical challenges will work the muscles, the  central nervous system and the whole body.
-The goalkeepers need to be athletic, flexible, brave and have extremely quick reflexes.
-Handball is also a game of tactics, strategies and problem solving.
I myself might not know about this sport very much before doing this. Now, it's a pleasure to know about it and I'm actually starting to like it. Wish to play this sport with my friends someday if things happened to work out.

That's all from me today.
Peace out!!

On  the last 16th of May 2015, it was the last time for all of us  Telecom Student to come and help the students of SK Taman Megah for their training . To be honest I feel so sad and happy at the same time thou...Oh yes The feelings is undescribeable ( Stuck between feeling happy and sad at the same time.) Hahhaha I feel so sad because I'm not sure when I can I able to come and watch the cute young children train all the sport but at the same time I feel happy because of this Social Engagement course, all of us were able to gain and exciting and wonderful experience while helping the kids with their training~~
So for my post this time I would like to describe to you on what kind of event that we organize during that last particular day. Since that each schools have two team so there was a total six games and overall it took only 2 hours for all the game to complete. The allocated time given to each games is about  15 minutes.
And right after the game,

So right after the game, we start off with the closing ceremony .This is where the excitement arise as the winners will be announce. As for the girl's team, Team from SK Taman Megah won the first place and and for the boys team, Team from SK Seri Selangor won the first place.

What's in my mind???

Hello everyone!!!!!

In my opinion I think the social engagement course is very useful for university students. this course train students to become more friendly and give students a chance to socialize with people regardless of their race.

For me, I am as student feel that this program give me a chance to communicate and spend my time with primary school students. I miss my primary school life time every time attend for the sessions. Even some of the students behavior reminds me of my past. This reminds me where I'm from and from where I begin my life.

Playing with the primary school students help me to release my tension and sometimes I forgot that I am 20. Sharing knowledge and experience by talking to them help them to face their primary school life.\

Everyone of us must play our part in the society. What we received from our society we have to pay them back. We have to do good things back to our society so that this social "circle" will continue and we can enjoy the benefits together.

I think this kind of program must be continued in future. Thank you.

First Time

Waking up early during the weekend is not my cup of tea but there comes a knock on my door calling my name. At first I did not open the door but then it came to my mind that I had to attend the social engagement activity. I quickly freshen up myself and gather together with my group members. I was astonish looking at them. They were in HIGH spirit and I was like should we go????(but I had to go!!!!).We reached there about 7.30 a.m in the morning setting things up preparing breakfast for ourselves and the students. As the smaller hand on our watch hit 8 and the bigger hand hits 12, This indicated we should start our activity. As time passes by the sun ray was hitting right at us. The "Cloud Warriors"(actually it means a group of cloud[hehehe]) when missing when we really needed them. We felt like we were in an oven (actually I have never been into an oven) said one of my group member. At 10 a.m, everyone stopped and moved to the canteen and I thought this was the end but it isn't it was just the break I was really exhausted at the moment. After the break then we had a mini match between the students and us. Although the students was primary student we should not have underestimated their talent, some of them were as good as us and some are even better(shame on us).
After the mini match we provided the students with some orange juice as a thirst quencher( the orange juice was really tasty and made my day). Before sleeping I was going through my day and realised that waking up early on that day made me happy as I was able to mix around with the students. As the next Saturday comes I was really excited as was in HIGH spirit as the others.

Happiness

I never love to do any assignment especially when i need to sacrifice a lot of my time to do it. So social engagement project for me is just one of the things that i must do in my college in order to get good grades. That is the feeling before i went to do the project.

Remember my first visit to SK Taman Megah, when i first stepped in the school, i started to feel the atmosphere of primary school, with kids screaming, chasing each other and so on. I was assigned to teach these kids sports which i really feel uncomfortable at first but things changed after i start teaching them. Not a thing that they did when they participate in training failed to surprise me. I was stunned the time that how can their happiness be so true. When they train, they train. When they are playing a match, they put their full concentration on it, try to win the game the best that they can. No matter how tired they are, they always putting smiles on their face. They really love what they are doing, they really love the game. It reminded me as an adult, we always wants to benefit from something that we do. We started to infighting each other to get what we wanted. In the end, we lost everything, we lose happiness.

If you ask me what is the outcome of the social engagement project, i would say to find back the passionate of me doing the things that i love to do. Never focus on what should i achieve but enjoy on the things that i am doing because i love to do it and i deserve doing it and i deserve the happiness of doing something i love. I will never regret joining the my college's sicial engagement project.

FUN FUN FUN DAY!

Good day, everyone!
Today is my turn to update this blog. Since i never had a blog before, so this is very very awkward hahaha

Anyway, moving on to yesterday’s  story...
It was Saturday, and as usual, we’re going to SK Taman Megah again for the social engagement project. Since i was in charge for the transportation, i went home a day before so that i can take my car from my sister. I woke up earlier than usual which was at 6.15am and drove to UM at 7. Arrived at second college at 7.20am and waited for the other members to come.

As everyone gathered at 7.30am, we had a short briefing and headed to SK Taman Megah at about 7.40am. Since the school wasn't that far, and the traffic was clear, we arrived at 8 am.
As usual, we had our nasi lemak together and a few minutes after that, it’s time to do some stretching up! But since my leg’s injured two weeks ago, sadly, i can’t join them :’c But....i did throw some balls into the net until....the netball pole fell down on my wrist. Left some bruises on my wrist but luckily it was nothing.

So the netball game went fun as usual. I had fun looking at our team members playing netball against the kids. Really wish i could join them but it’s okay, there’s always next time kan haha. The game ended at 11 and had our lunch with the kids together. Packed everything up and heading back to UM at 1230pm.

It was a very very very tiring day but it was so much! Can’t wait for our next trip! Here’s some of the photos from yesterday’s trip.

That it is all from me today.
